Any Specifics You Want to See?

2956 Views 11 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  Carl Abrams
We are going to check out the Ascent when it arrives in Seattle next Monday. I wanted to offer, for those who haven't seen it yet and maybe won't be able to see it anytime soon, the chance to get specific questions answered, photos/videos taken, measurements done - whatever!

My wife and I will be bringing along our car seats (infant and toddler) to test the functionality of the second row. I am really hoping there is a Touring model present to test the fit with the captains chairs.

Let me know if there is anything you are dying to know or see up close.

I'm curious to know just how far a full size tire will hang down in the spare tire location. If it's not too dirty or hot out, would you mind getting a tape measure up in there and taking some measurements, please?

If you can snap some pics of the car seats installed in the 2nd and 3rd (for toddler seat facing fwd) rows that would be great!
Ditto on the car seats. Although I have an 8 passenger on order, so if they are captains chairs, its not applicable to me.

Thanks!
I'm curious to see the seats with car seats in them too. There's been some criticism of the Captain's Chairs. One reviewer said it was so plush and the most comfortable ever in a second row, another said it felt too small and they were "sliding off" the seat. Huh???

I'm torn between the CC and Bench. My wife's Pilot EXL has the bench, and it's really a pain to get in and out of, since you have to manever the seats (though, Honda smartly made it a power release button, which slides the seat forward and seatback down for entering/exiting of the third row...) ... I feel like I'd rather have the CC's and sacrifice the 8th seat availability, but that's a heavy discussion for the Mrs. when we get closer to actually buying. Everything still hinges on the test drive next week...

Can do! I'll just bring a change of clothes to be safe. :)

Wheel specs, ie bolt size and pattern, rim size and offset (ET). Rim info should be stamped on inside.

(also asked this on another thread to a different volunteer, but casting a wide net...)

Thanks for offering to help!

One thing I'm interested in is how much legroom there is in the 2nd row behind the driver when the drivers seat is all the way back (and the driver's back is only moderately reclined), and the 2nd row is as far back as possible as well.

My wife and I are both around 6'2", and drive with the seat all the way back. But we have plenty of tall adult friends, and so one litmus test for us is how comfortable are we in the 2nd row, when we've set up the first row for ourselves.

Also, if you notice any difference in 2nd row legroom between the bench and captain's chairs, that would be nice to know.

Thanks again for the offer to help!

Hey Bentld1,

Thanks for this. I asked Robert in another thread, but wanted to ask if you could do these two measurements as well: https://tall.life/measuring-cars-for...n-line-height/ 1. Vision Line Height and then 2. Vertical measurement from where the glass meets the ceiling to the top of the drivers seat with the seat lowered.

Also since you are in Seattle, can you ask if they are doing any specific undercoats because of the rain. Trying to move up there myself within the next year.

OK, here's one I would like to know about. Does it have a telescoping steering wheel? I was just driving home on a long highway stretch in my Outback Limited (using adaptive cruise and lane assist which I love for highway driving) thinking "I wish the steering wheel was closer" Wahlah! It does. I wish I would have known this for the past 2 1/2 years...

Let us know how the steering wheel adjusts if you would. Thanks!

Yes. Review videos have confirmed this feature.
