They're underexposed, man. I would process it again (assuming RAW) and boost the shadows to gain more details on your car.

lol, I was more interested in the sunsets than the car, and boosted the shadows to create contrasts. :tango_face_wink:

But I was already thinking of doing other edits that focused more on the car than on the sunset. Just haven't gotten around to it.

Here's an "in between" edit from the day - though, it's been pretty mangled by Instagram compressing the heck out of it, followed by Facebook compressing the heck out of what Instagram already destroyed.

www.flickr.com

Used this for years for photos post edit. Will maintain original quality and can be linked/embedded as original size, or scaled down. All my .cr2 get ported to a thumb drive and then lost in a drawer somewhere...so there's that issue...but having the post processed exports on flickr is nice.

If you use Adobe LR, you can export straight to Flickr, facebook, and i believe insta too.

I've got places to host photos. Just don't have my finals or raws on me. That pic was taken for someone else that day for me. It was just easy to grab.

This is a better sample of my work, but largely with my D7100 instead of the D850:

Some nice HDR stuff in there. Some of those skyline shots would looks -great- with some heavy ND filter usage and a long exposure (i'm a sucker for long exposure shots over the water)

Thanks :)

The interesting stuff is a lot of my night shots have very minimal editing or no at all. I just play with the white balance before I take the shot. I do lighting (eg: film lighting), so, I know a few things about tweaking lighting (even if only by changing white balance) to make things look that way, lol.

Some of the night shots of the 9-11 In Lights Memorial have no edits, such as the third and fourth in this gallery:

The other trick to make those look like they're HDR has to do with the aperture.

These are entirely unedited:

What monitor do you use to process your photos?

Nikon D850 is helluva a camera!!!! Are you looking to jump into the mirrorless platform (i.e. Nikon Z6/7)?

If I am not being lazy, I use my Thinkpad w701ds with its color calibrated monitor. Otherwise, I'm using my Note8 on un-enhanced mode and doing quick edits on the phone.

My heart and the geek in me says yes. My wallet says no. :tango_face_wink: :crying:

Hey all, I know many of you have Facebook... so, for those of you who do, don't forget to post your Ascent Adventure pics there and tag them with #AscentAdventures and #SubaruOfAmerica - you may get yours featured by them!!!

Anyway, here's a couple pics from my latest beach adventure...

Reading your comments on a thread last week, I went out and messaged a couple of my photos (both of the ones with Mt. Hood in the background) to Subaru of America on Facebook Messenger. After a little back and forth to make sure the right credit/tags are given, I was notified the photos will be shared as a part of their #AscentAdventures campaign (across Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter) on October 16th! I'm so excited!
