My 60k service went smoothly at my dealership. Up to this point, the only maintenance I've ever had done on the car is oil changes, tires, and air filters. We baby the car and have never towed. My dealership is an hour away.
I spent 7 hours there and had the following done for $1184:
$415 spark plugs
$122 brake fluid (did not replace at 30k as suggested by manual)
$232 front/rear diffs (just barely dirty enough to change)
$415 CVT fluid (just barely dirty enough to change)
free 3 recalls
free multipoint inspection (seemed to cover the 60k maintenance items as well)
They tried to sell me some unneeded engine cleaning service for $300 something, which they didn't hard sell me on once I politely declined. They had videos and pictures of the diffs and CVT fluid to see their condition. They said I likely had about 2 years left on my rear brakes, and 4 more years left on my front brakes. They said the rotors were slightly warped, but not a safety issue. All recalls were done without issue.
After hearing all the horror stories, I was relieved my dealership is pretty decent. I could have put off the diffs and CVT until 90k miles, but decided to get it done at 60k based on other's experiences and advice. The fake shifting is much improved after the updates. The car also seems to drive smoother.
Questions:
Does the 2020 Ascent Limited have a fuel filter? The maintenance schedule says to change it at 72k. The rep at the dealership said it didn't have one to be changed at 72k.
What is the Transmission Gear Oil (line 12)? I asked the rep about it, and he said it was the CVT fluid (line 13) or the diff oil (line 14). He suggested the service schedule was wrong when I pointed out they were all listed on separate lines on the maintenance schedule.
