This is all I see that's new, anything else (in the announcement, anyways)?

New for 2020, all Ascent trims are equipped with a Rear Seat Reminder system that is designed to assist the driver in preventing child and/or pet entrapment in the vehicle by reminding the driver to check the rear seat area before exiting the vehicle. While the system cannot physically sense the presence of children or pets in the rear seat area, it will turn on if one of the following conditions is met: the vehicle is started within 30 minutes after a rear side door is opened and closed; a rear side door is opened and closed when the vehicle is running and stationary; the vehicle is turned off and back on again within 30 minutes, and the rear side doors remained closed. The system will alert the driver with an audible sound after the vehicle is turned off and will display a warning message in the Combination Meter Display (CMD), reminding the driver to check the rear seat area.

New for 2020, Premium trim and above offer one touch interior illumination on/off controls.

The power mirror info is in the paragraph above the price chart. Looks like only the Touring model will add the exterior power folding mirrors. I see a future visit to the parts department at my dealer to order the necessary parts to add power to our Touring's mirrors when the parts become available. Hopefully it's as simple as adding a motor and a switch. I have extra button/switch space in that dash panel above the left knee.

It's all very minor. That's one thing about Subaru - they don't just raise the price arbitrarily, they actually give you something for it. And shipping costs went up slightly, and with it hitting four digits, I can see that becoming a point of contention with customers, but it is what it is. It actually costs money to get these cars from Indiana out to us.

Power folding mirrors are likely controlled by the vehicle computer, so it's going to be more than just swapping them out and putting in a switch. But I agree that would be a desirable mod to MY19 if it can be done.

There's some backwards compatibility sometimes, but no guarantee. You're basically on your own.

A good example of this recently is people really wanting the LED Cargo Area light that's found on the 2019 Forester Sport trim, but isn't available even as an option on all other trims - even the Touring and Limited which is "above" it... it appears that the harnesses are swappable.

If you want to convince your dealer to do it, there's some cases of people being told "Hey, that sounds fun, let's find out together!" by the dealer, and other dealers for liability's sake saying "The parts are not compatible." So your mileage may vary.

2020 Ascent needs to offer 120V power outlet in Limited

2020 Ascent needs to offer 120V power outlet in Limited

I personally did not liek the Chrome accents and being locked into the brown leather of the touring.
We wanted the upgraded NAV/Stereo , Panoramic Moonroof & 120V power in middle row.

120V is NOT offered in Limited I hope it is an option in 2020

new 2020 options

ok question so they are going to offer heated outside mirrors on the 20? will they be backward compatible for the 19. also comments about the folding mirrors i was under the impression that the auto dimming is not available in the auto folding so then what about the heated what is it all include on? dimming - heated - folding ? what combination of options? anyone know?

I will say the 4th camera on the touring (rearview mirror) is a great option. took a 2 week long trip with the cargo area full. used it the camera the entire time. should be an option on at least the limited. has some issues in the rain and at night but other than that still a great option.

I just posted this on the 2019 or 2020 topic. I figured I should post on both for information purpose.

So here’s my experience with ordering today.

Before I start, thanks to everyone for the information shared about the MY19-20... it helped out a lot. Sometimes I feel like I know more about the car than the actual salespeople. My guy didn’t even know the MY20 was available for me to order. My salesman wasn’t trying to push the MY19 on me, unlike some dealerships that just try to push inventory and just pressure you.

Since the forum informed me about MY19-20 differences/change, I had my salesman give me pricing for both and see if it was worth the difference or not even with MY20 new features.

Before he had given me prices, He and I were told that the new MY20 (or any new models) can go up 1-2% from last years MSRP... not sure if true or not, can anyone verify?

As for the MY19, he said orders have closed but is still willing to find one with my vehicle trim, color, etc... but can’t guarantee obviously.

And the MY20, he gave me the “highest priced” scenario with 2% MSRP increase from last year. So basically he gave me the OTD price with that increase. We will be able to “negotiate” price once they do get an official MSRP price. I’m not sure if it’s true or not that they don’t know the official price.

So my order will be put in Tuesday and said to expect it in August.

As has been noted in the other thread, Subaru already announced the MY20 pricing and there is no 1-2% price increase...only some minor changes, depending on the trim. Folks ordering in the last week have been told July delivery, BTW.

Hello,

Just got Invoice Price for 2020 Blue Ascent Touring $44,461. I have ordered.

I had ordered earlier and cancelled, a 2019 Blue Ascent Touring and the Invoice was $44,584

Hopefully same equipment on both.

Instead of End of July delivery, new update is just July.

Good luck to all.

Hello,

Those are just the Invoice numbers from Subaru. That way you can compare Apples with Apples. I just wanted to show the 2020 is slightly less than the 2019. Yes, includes hitch and Aero Bars, only thing not in price is body side moldings and Mud flaps which I am getting somewhere else.

We ordered a touring in black, probably at the back of the pack at the moment since we dont even have a VIN yet. Estimate is still end of July though we hoped that it would be here sooner since we ordered as soon as orders were accepted

I don't think they've ever offered a different color for the Outback Touring to-date, either. So do your best deal if the added features are not compelling to you, but don't assume big "extra" discounts on MY19 Ascents because demand is high. Most likely, it will be somewhat akin to whatever the difference is in invoice pricing between MY19 and the equivalent vehicle for MY20.

My dealer offered me under invoice for 19 and and few hundred over invoice for 20 model. The difference was about 1.5-2k and I wanted to have the car before July when my family come to visit. I would get 20 model if it had LCA though.

Now it doesn’t even say lane keep. Warning you when you sway out of your lane is lane departure. Maybe once all the 20s are out they will all have lane centering and they are just generalizing it. Guess we will see when we start picking up the 20s. But being it’s just software I don’t see why it would be avoided.

If it isn’t my car will have random eyesight errors when it done come out and I’ll get a software update and see if it comes. Just like they did a 18 and a 19 starlink system than just combined them to only have to fix one version that should happen.
