Ugh, you got hit too? I hate getting rear ended. No way to avoid it. Just minding your own business and BAM!!

Was stopped at a light at the top of a highway off ramp on 9/22 and a guy in a Prius slammed into me pretty hard. Thankfully, we are both ok, he was at fault and my insurance will cover it. Body shop quoted over $7k for parts and labor. They are replacing the bumper, tailgate(even though it seemed only a small dent like yours), spare tire, tow hitch, exhaust... three pages worth of other stuff.

Stuck with the rental until Halloween at least.

Went with the body shop recommended by my insurance. Our local dealer farms out collision work anyway.

Oh Wow! That is some extensive damage. I hope your Ascent is back to normal soon!

Indeed your tailgate damage seems quite similar to what I got. It is interesting that they are replacing it.
