Our Beloved Sue Bea (2019 Ascent) was in a tussle with a family of deer on 95N. She did her job and protected us, but we just found out from the insurance company that she was totaled :-(. We loved her dearly and she did a beautiful job transporting our family around for the last 2 years (75K miles). We are now in the market for her replacement. Sad because we only owed $6K on her. We were going to pay her off and get our son a Forester this summer. I guess his car will have to wait. Any idea what the going price for a new Touring is?

Glad y'all are okay, sounds super scary. I've had couple of semi close calls with deer over the years, but luckily never hit one. Only animal I ever hit was a super big porcupine, of all things, I was driving at night in the rain and just as I came over a rise in the road it was right in front of me. Couldn't stop or swerve in time, slammed on the brakes but still hit it hard, head on, and ended up with porcupine brains and blood and quills all over the front left side of the car. Back to deer, though, I've seen those little gizmos advertised that attach to the front of cars that are supposed to help warn deer, does anyone know if they work?
And good luck getting a replacement Ascent soon, Sue Bea. I'd hate to be Ascentless for even a day now that we've fallen so in love with ours.

Thanks. It was pretty scary. 2 am, dark night with a family of 6 or 7 deer running across the street. They do not run side by side, rather they follow one behind the other. We had nowhere to go, thankfully we were in the right lane. All airbags deployed, we were a little discombobulated, OnStar came on and sent police. Later, after we got out of the car (did that pretty quickly because semi-trucks were speeding by and we were afraid we would get hit) we discovered another family had also tussled with the deers. They did not fair as well, so we are thankful Sue Bea kept us safe.

'Glad you were all safe.

If you're in the Mid-Atlantic area (NY, NJ, PA, DE), consider contacting Dan at Liberty Subaru in NJ. They are a forum sponsor/vendor and offer very good pricing. Contact information is in their section of the vendor forum discussion area. You may need to be somewhat flexible on color, etc., right now because supply of vehicles is very constrained due to the global chip shortage, etc.

Sorry for your car. (and the deer) glad your family is safe though. I just bought mine a couple weeks ago, and when I was shopping choices were very slim. Chip shortage has closed the indiana plant where ascent is made twice in a month. There aren't a lot out there. We ended up reserving one that was listed as "in transit" with the dealer, meaning it was ordered, but not shipped yet, and it took about 3 weeks to arrive. The day it came our dealer got 5 ascents. Ours, two loaners, and two others. That's all they received for the rest of April.

Being safe is a relief, but sometime insurance calls it total is a better relief.

IIRC, $42K (or ~45K OTD) w/ discount and haggling. I ordered my 2019 Limited for $40.5K OTD

Thank you. I noticed that my 2019 Touring MSRP and the 2021 MSRP is about $3K difference. Dealer is willing to give us $500 below Invoice which is about 1% under invoice. Now to find out how much the extended Warranty is. So sad Luke is no longer available. Is there a new person we should go to? I tried looking under the warranty forums but not much info.

Thanks Jim! I will give him a buzz now. The dealer we are working with now is offering $500 below invoice but we have to order the car. Also, need to find out how much extended warranty is.

You need to get prices for the Subaru Gold Extended Service Contract from dealers in your market geography. Subaru no longer permits dealers to sell contracts out of their market geography. If you are in the NJ/NY/PA/DE area, forum sponsor Liberty Subaru is a good choice to get a price from. Contact information for Dan is in the Liberty vendor discussion area.
