First time post under not the best circumstances but I have to think the Ascent 8.7” ground clearance and the luck of having the wheel turned out saved us today. New ‘22 Onyx bought in June. Front bumper damage and hopefully just the control arm, will see once the dealer does the inspection. This is why we bought the Subaru.

On the surface that looks like an amazingly small amount of damage! Just be sure to get it fully inspected for any underlying damage while the insurance claim is still open. That Honda though… oof

Initial inspection report…left front inner tie rod end is bent, front strut is bent and strut bearing is damaged. All need replacement then an alignment to see if it drives to spec, if it doesn’t it could mean more damage not visible. If that’s all that needs repair I’m thoroughly impressed. Also, wheel is badly scratched and likely replace the tire as well since it took a big hit.

If you are replacing 1 tire then it's extremely likely you'll need to replace all 4 tires per Subaru's recommendation. Uneven tread depth on Subaru's AWD system can and will result in damage to the driveline/systems.

Sorry to hear about the accident, but hope everyone was ok! Looks like a left turner didn't yield to you based on the pics.

Thanks for the advice guys. Our Ascent has less than 3000 miles on it so tread depth shouldn’t be an issue, I think? My bigger concern is to make sure every possible suspension part that may have been impacted by a 30-40mph direct hit to the tire gets replaced so I don’t have issues in a few years. Anything else I should be asking them to inspect or proactively replace?

A 4 wheel alignment for sure. Also ask the ins co about potential undiscovered damage, and how that would be handled.

Most Subaru dealers stock "shaved" versions of their common OEM sizes.
I cannot say that I've ever heard this one previously and I know my local dealer doesn't do this.
