Yup! We were on our way out to Windsor Colorado and I wanted to take the path less traveled, so we went through the SD Badlands, then cornered our way through NE (for this pic), then WY to CO.
I had so much fun in the Badlands.

what brand is the thule on top of the car? is it dealer installed? i am planning on getting one. also, how does it feel having it on top of the glass? can you open the top while you drive? how is the gas mileage with the thule on top of the car? how much can you carry with that?

Hi! Here's the link to the exact model we have which includes all the specs: Thule Force XT We use Yakima round bars on the car and have no problems with the box over the moonroof. The gas mileage goes down certainly, but I'm sorry, I can't remember how much now. 16-20mpg rings a bell. Probably closer to 16. Its been awhile since we have used it on the Ascent. More recently, we mounted it to our Forester. The reason being, when we travel really long distances we now have a Space Trailer Home - Space Trailers which is freaking awesome enclosed utility trailer, because we got it with crossbars which means we can mount the Thule to it OR a Rooftop Tent! AND...we get much better gas mileage 20-22mpg because it sits in the vehicles slip stream and doesn't block the wind.
